Oof. I had a magical plan to plastidip the center of the wheels and it was going to look awesome. It... didn’t work.
Try 2 was with masking tape and didn’t fare much better. That said, it is good enough I can get an idea of what it’ll look like and decide if I want to do it or not.
If try 3 happens, I think I am going to try brushing it on...

Have you tried laying the wheel flat, painting what you want to paint, then putting a slight excess of paint on the out edge, then lifting one side slightly and letting the pool of paint wash round!? You know like if you put oil in a frying pan and you roll it around to make sure the oil gets to all the edges.

That’d be cool. Not sure what I’d need to google to make it that happen though... Suggestions?

Not a bad idea, but I think the paint would be to viscous for that. I think the brush on using the stencil will work. The problem with try 1 was the stencil is hard plastic and didn’t conform to the contours well.

Singles can be had from hubcap/wheelcentre websites. I got mine from a 79 prelude (I am old enough to have seen a 79 prelude). They spring clip to the lugnuts, not the wheel. If you find one you can have my 3. (let me make sure there are 3. (2 are hanging on the wall)

If I may make a suggestion
. You could try placing an adhesive
backed product
(like saran wrap) on the face of the wheel and then cut it right at the edge where the inner barrel starts. May not be the easiest way to do it with all the contours but if you can get it stuck down good it should work flawlessly. If that ends up being too difficult and your still adamant
on spraying it you could use a liquid mask
product, would be more time consuming and you’d have to make sure it’s compatible
with whatever you’re spraying but it would yield very nice results.

Tape and paint?

The trick with masking tape is to use a small paint brush and paint the spray paint onto the edges before spraying. This seals the tape better so paint doesn’t seep under it. Use a razor blade to cut the tape away once it is dry so the paint doesn’t peel up with it. Let the paint dry for a few days before removing the tape. Don’t use enamel paint, but if you do, let it dry for at least week before removing the tape.

Idk about original preludes, but all later ones are 4x114 bolt patterns, because it’s on the Accord chassis

Plastidip is supposed to be removable, right? What if you slather it on, let it dry, and then take the wheel and put it on the hub and rotate it. While it spins, trace a cut into the plastidip with a razor (and a steady hand) and then just peel the excess. Best way I know of to make a perfect circle.
Just a thought. I’ve never personally used the product.

How fluid is the paint. Try mounting wheel on the hub, charge the brush with paint, and then spin the wheel whilst holding the brush where you want it.

Patience is key, which is considered magic to most people. ;)
